yak Foundation

Giving back to the society. One Community at a time.

YAK has always believed in the culture of giving back by empowering skilled artisans and local communities to find greater financial and social stability. We consider it our responsibility to make a positive impact in the communities we serve. Through its social responsibility program, YAK foundation was initiated to enable weavers to have a better living whilst providing education for their children. In rural areas, each earning member of the family has 4-6 members. Facilitating various opportunities increases their capacity to earn higher wages which in turn helps them to provide a decent livelihood for the entire family.

Get Involved with YAK

Social Responsibility is not a marketing gimmick or a catch phrase we use here at YAK in order to attract customers. We are sensitive to the needs of each one who is related to our company directly or indirectly. Our commitment not only extends to our business partners but to our community as well. It is our foundation belief that the communities we serve are actively involved in our firm as we are in them.

Eradication of Child Labor

YAK initiated Abolition of Child Labor Program (ACLP) under which it ensured that no child labor is involved in the making of any type of rug. This is a huge concern in remote villages and rural areas where young children are deprived of early childhood and are employed to earn meager amount of money to sustain their livelihood. We as a group have imposed strict restrictions and strongly oppose on the use of child labor in making these rugs. In turn we encourage these young souls by providing basic necessities of life.

Earthquake Relief Fund

Yak donated handmade cotton durries to the victims of the earthquake that occurred in Darwin, Australia in April 2011 on a Richter scale of 7.1
